Scope of Works / Project Background:
This high profile 50 acre site, adjacent to the Master Brewer Hotel and A40 carriageway in Hillingdon, suffered from ten years of illegal traveller encampment and the dumping of hundreds of tons of commercial and domestic waste at enormous cost to local rate payers. In conjunction with The London Borough of Hillingdon and through consultation with local residents, officers and councilors, Woodland were appointed to completely re-landscape the main perimeter to prevent vehicle access. The new landscape was to be in keeping with the existing land formation and included the additional planting of 3000 trees and shrubs, an important benefit to the local ecology. Traveller encampment has ceased and the scheme has proved a huge success for all local residents. Improved bio-diversity and increased habitat possibilities for flora and fauna are a welcome additional result. A fine example of what an innovative and pro-active approach by a London borough authority can achieve.
