Background
The Club was originally on an open piece of land approximately 40 acres near
to the town of High Wycombe in the Chiltern Hills. The land was being used
temporarily by a grouse and clay shooting club, which consisted of a few wooden
shooting stands with two automatic traps. Grouse shoots took place in the contained
woodland.

The objective of the development was to enhance the landscape, build
noise attenuation barriers to prevent the sound traveling into the
local area and use extensive planting to create a natural appearance,
at the same time encouraging wildlife, flowers and plants into the
development.

Benefits
There are benefits both for sporting and commercial use of the grounds. The
creation of a greater number of shooting stands gives the club the ability
to host competitions, commercially sponsored days and other outdoor pursuits
without affecting the core shooting disciplines.
The development of the club house will allow provision of a shop,
restaurant and bar facilities that will greatly enhance the attraction
of the site and encourage membership.

Individual bunds were created following a specific design to encourage
the many forms of shooting. Core mounds were used to provide a firm
base structure with topsoil added for planting.

Supplementary fill was imported to complete the project. The planting
of the mounds consisted of mainly wild plants and shrubs on the back
of the mounds to blend into the landscape of the surrounding area.
The internal side of the mounds have a cleaner more landscaped approach
to enhance the overall appearance.
